After visiting the village of Gwirot in the
remote area of Daga and witnessing the potential firsthand, we’ve joined forces with the community to bring their coffee to the world.

We knew that transporting the coffee beans from the edge of the world to our roasting and fulfilment centre in Estonia, and setting up the necessary systems and products, would take time. But with the new harvest season ahead, we couldn’t ask farmers to start harvesting again without certainty. Not after years of broken promises and the painful memory of past crops being burned. They needed more than just words.

We agreed to commit to the entire stock of the 2024 harvest in Gwirot and found some other villages that wanted to sell their coffee beans as well. We took a leap of faith setting it in motion, trusting that we could find enough people to help kick-start this new chapter. That’s why you can already pre-order a box of Daga’s coffee today.

While we initially thought we had built in plenty of buffer time, we know now that everything moves at a different pace in Papua New Guinea. We’ve encountered a fair share of unexpected challenges, including things that sound surreal from a European perspective, like a tribal fight blocking the highway, but this is the reality there today.

It’s also been a valuable learning curve, and step by step, we’re building the foundations for a reliable and efficient process, so future shipments can move with ease.

The coffee is now sailing towards Europe and is estimated to arrive at the end of October. After roasting, we’ll ship out the pre-sale boxes in November 2025 — and we’re confident they’ll be worth the wait.
