Day 97 - the beans have been transported down from the moutains

Some long-awaited good news from Daga! The coffee beans have finally made it down from Aguan to Alotau! After more than a month of delays and excuses from the airline, we were already giving up on the flight plan and preparing to get the beans down from the mountains on foot. But just as we were about to move onto plan B, we got a positive surprise. Not only did the airline complete the flights, but they even offered an extra one free of charge, allowing us to bring down more coffee. A small but meaningful win, also for the farmers.

Yesterday, all the beans set off by sea to Lae, where our export partner will handle the final processing and paperwork before the coffee can begin the long trip to Estonia. We’re told it might take 2–4 weeks — fingers crossed for no more surprises.

The hardest part is behind us- the beans are down from the mountains! Fingers crossed that the rest of the journey goes smoothly!
